Media Playgrounds is about creating installations (or playgrounds as we like to call them) which are controllable by you.
Designed around a system called PTTP (Power To The People) this gives:
- People the ability to play using many sorts of devices: mobile phones, laptops, Wiimotes, public access kiosks.
- People the ability to create new games which work with existing playgrounds.
A selection of Media Playground projects:
-
Instant Graffiti
Instant Graffiti is a projection playground displayed on buildings.
You can draw on a building or screen, in an Etch-a-Sketch style (but this one is in colour).
-
Musical Stairs
The Musical Stairs are an installation which play sounds triggered as people walk up the stairs leading to the Pervasive Media Studio.
Studio residents and visitors can add new sound sequences or alter a playlist of sequences which the stairs will play.
-
Bristol Fountains
Public control of the fountains in Bristol is the idea which triggered the Media Playgrounds scheme.
Still at the early stages yet - we'll let you know more as it happens.
